Default Coming to Orlando area :)

My husband was offered a job in the Orlando area this past Thursday. We accepted it yesterday. We're in New Castle Delaware now and we're ready to move to a warmer climate. This will be our 8th move in 12 years and not our last either. We'll probably be there about 3-5 years.

Our oldest is 3 1/2 and we'll be there long enough for him to start elementary school, and possibly our 20 month old to see at least kindergarten.

I've done tons of reseach on the school rankings using School Digger and the Florida sexual offenders website.

We should be coming there w/in the next few weeks to search for a house. I'll be armed with my laptop and my school rankings and sex offender locations bookmarked for a quick yeah or nay if we like a house. But what I need to know is there anything else I should look at when deciding? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Alphaman it's going to be Orlando, for Lockheed Martin. So we're thinking south side of Orlando. From the searches I've done, so far Davenport seems to be ok, and not a lot of sex offenders in the area. One school is ranked 502 out of a possible 1,824. And we're not sticks people I grew up in Brooklyn NY and him in Frankfurt Germany, we like to be around people and not have to drive hours to get a gallon of milk (I'm exaggerating on the drive ), but still.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You might want to consider Winter park, Oviedo, winter springs it`s alot closer to Lockheed and the schools in those areas are really good also. Maybe even Avalon park it`s like a small town in the Orlando suburbs.

I'll check those out tonight. We don't have a price range for a house, we have a payment range I think I remember Winter Park is out of our payment range. But with the market the way it is, we're not ruling anything out

But thanks for the info. I will definately look into those area's.

And can I say OMG, the price of ins is going to kill us

Noodles, I don't think he's worried about traffic, we live in DE and he works in Jersey but before that it was Philly. He's used to traffic and it doesn't bother him. He even commented that he's willing to drive further as long as we're in a good school district.

In checking out those area's I see that the house prices go way up and I think w/everything included the payments may be too much. We have to see. I'm also seeing that some of the houses are older. We don't know if we want a house that needs too much work. Painting ok, but not much more than that, we just won't have the time But then again, if we could get in a nice area, we'd take a fixer upper too. So we just have to see what we can get.
