Default Looking to open a dance studio in Orlando...

Hi everyone! I just moved down from Virginia this passed summer. I have been teaching dance for 5 years now, and most recently have been teaching in the Celebration area. I now feel that it is time to realize my dream of owning my OWN studio here in Florida. Rent for spaces in Celebration is SO expensive and I don't know very much about the other areas, having not been here that long. Can anyone suggest a nice neighborhood/shopping center-type place where I might be able to lease a space and begin recruiting students for a studio? Some things that have been mentioned to me are "The Loop", "Baldwin Park", and "Independence". Any thoughts?

Clay St. in Winter Park 32789. There has been a well respected film acting school for about eight years at this location. The area has also housed Florida Film Festival offices and several who make the performing arts their business, from music to theatre to improvisors. Dance would be a nice addition. It is quite near the Civic and Theatre Downtown.
Best of Luck!

Default hi there

Well its funny you mention that. I live in Independence and there is a shopping strip mall right around the corner. My daughter also takes dance, she is 7 and has done for a number of yrs now, i forget how long. she takes ballet, tap and Jazz and she attends a school called footworks which is at the end of 535 intersecting 50(west colonial).

There is deffinatley alot of families who live in Independence that this might appeal to. If your prepared to put the work in to advertise and convert people who use other schools at the moment. the only thing i would say is i highly recommend Independence to buy property to live, bu if starting a small business like that, because of the location, you are kind of limiting your self. I would suggest if you can find a good prices property to let then try Windermere.

Hope this helps.

Nick

Thank you so much for these replies. I will definitely check out these areas. Independence seems like a very good option. Coming from a town like Celebration, it seems that a studio would thrive there. Nick, do you know the address of this shopping center in/near Independence that you are talking about? I'd like to mapquest it and go down to that area and explore a little.

Thanks again!!

Jaime
