Am interested in purchasing a free standing villa in Tavaras. These villas have enclosed smaller pools in walled courtyard type spaces. Originally was most interested in Sullivans Ranch. All things considered, is there much difference in living in Tavaras vs. Mount Dora? I am mobile and will be visiting Orlando frequently as all family reside in east Orlando area.

Also villas I am interested in are a LOT less money than Sullivan Ranch but of course older. Any information on villas in Vista del Largo? It seems there are plenty of properties available in this development (at present 15) that does not have a lot of streets? Should I look elsewhere?

Thanks for your comments

I'll write more later, but we bought an older Tudor house in MT Dora 7 years ago. We're still there. We love it. MT Dora and tavares kind of blend in to each other, so you shouldn't see much difference.

Thank you - appreciative of your time in responding. Was to be gone by April 1 from southern IL but some other issues need addressing so have delayed departure. love an older home. Lived in historic district for 20 years in home built in 1895 (or 1904 - tax records and historical society disagree.) BUT no longer motivated to care for an older home nor am able. Condo is the way to go for me now. Everybody ought to own an older home once....some will come back for more others would tell you they would rather throw themselves off a bridge.. :-)

Tavares is a good bit quieter than Mount Dora, especially weekends when daytrippers invade Downtown Mount Dora along with the big antiques market on 441 (Renninger's). You have an apples and oranges comparison with a newer home in Sullivan's Ranch (an HOA) versus an older villa home in Tavares (a Condo). Personally I would opt for the desirability of a smaller home with less upkeep (that also costs less) versus a larger more expensive home, especially if it's just yourself.
