How bad would the commute be from the Sunset Park Elementary school area in Windermere to the SunTrust building downtown on Orange Ave? Typical morning and evening commute times. I heard to stay away from I4 at all costs... does that include those times in those directions?? I am worried about driving through "bad" areas taking side roads... Any advice please?

The most direct but longest route timewise will be to take I-4 all the way in. Other option is taking Hiawassee to 408 than take 408 into downtown, you won't really hit any bad areas on this route and save some time over I-4.

Ride up Winter Garden/Vineland up to 429, 429 to Turnpike to 408. It's maybe 2 miles or so more than other possible routes, but skips bad traffic areas, and will get you there in less than 30 minutes

Generally speaking I4 is mainly bad during rush hour. Use google maps with live traffic on and it will tell you the fastest route. However, during rush hour, I would follow A's advice and take 408 (tolls).

Thanks guys! Google Maps was saying 30 mins but I wasn't sure if they was accurate during rush hour. Anyone know how much tolls would be each way? I was thinking I could maybe take I4 from the Conroy point to skip "some" of the I4 madness --- or is that where it all begins...

That's pretty much where it all begins.

The traffic is in real-time, so when its time for you to drive, just open google map and do whatever it says whether it recommend I-4 or 408.

We live right there - literally a few blocks from the school and take the drive into downtown Orlando by taking the 429 to the 408. We NEVER go I4. It is well worth the tolls for the quick drive (about 30 minutes). Have never run into traffic going that way. It can get busy but we have never been sitting on the highway as often happens with I4.

We have before been on I4 coming home and jumped off at Conroy but that is stop and go and not really as fast easy route.

There is a Toll Calculator that you can use to determine how much the tolls would be. You will select 429 with the entry ramp of 535 as your starting point. It looks like your toll costs would be about $3.00 or less each way depending if you have the E-Pass or paying in cash.
