knightgoose is on a distinguished road
Lakeland is a nice town but if you want something a little similar to LA as far as a faster pace, I would move to Orlando. 45k will work if you are just looking to live in an apartment. With your price range I would check out East Orlando/Waterford Lakes area...lots of nice apartments in that area w/ lots of good shopping and restaurants.
