Default A very detailed living situation

I'm 21 years old living around the D.C. area. I would like within a year to move down towards Florida. My husband and I are looking for a fairly cheap place to live within the $600-$800 price range in rent.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a comparison.

My rent right now is $900
cell phone $130
Car payment and car insurance $435
Monthly Car's Gas $100
Groceries $150
Trash $15
Water $30
Gas $50
Electricity $60
Cable $120

We would be working regular run of the mill teenager jobs while saving up for school. Are these figures the norm for early 20 year olds in Florida?

Also, we are considering moving to Florida with our best friend who has lived with us for 2 1/2 years. He has his own concerns. He would be looking for a gay friendly area to move to.

Default hi there

Well to be honest, you would be looking at prob around the same. For example in my community, townhomes are around $1100 a month although there are new condos being built which i could certainly inquire as to pricing for you. In terms of groceries etc that would all stay the same as well as your car/insurance payments. Because of AC etc you would find electricity would be around $150 but this would vary on the time of year of course. Gas at the moment is $3.13 a gallon, (it was only $2.87 a week ago), trash is usually included. In my neighbourhood we get basic cable and internet free in the HOA fees so most landlords dont charge for that, and water is usually around $30/40 mark. Of course these prices would depend, but i hope this gives you a basic idea. Condo's would be less and depending on where you go you can get rentals for a 1bed 1 bath for as low as $500 a month i have seen. depends on what your looking for. If your going to be working at Disney my community is literally a 3 min drive from Magic Kingdom, so your cars gas bill would be lower. It all depends on your circumstances.

Hope this helps

Our rent was $950/month in 2004 when we moved here. Then it turned condo so our mortgage is around $1030 + $186 in condo fees. (Our rent north of Boston when we left was $790/month.) Rents seem to be $900 and up here. Water $45. Electric $100+ (800 sf.) Food about $50-60+ a week. gas is about $3.20 a gallon. This is central Florida.

you didn't say anything about what type of place and how big you want to move into

thats what determines the rent

In my opinion, $600-800 will not get you into a very nice place here in Orlando.
