There are some really bad areas in cocoa. There are some nice areas like canaveral groves. I would avoid cocoa the dowtown area. Port St. John is a better with less crime. The homes are cheap to and there arent any home owner assocation you can park your boat or truck in your yard or have a chicken or rooster if you would like animals if you would like. I have heard roosters before. I live in rockledge and go to port st john alot, I do lots of mortgages for people in cocoa and port st john and its alot safer than cocoa is.

How long of a drive is it from Rockledge to the Orlando airport? Is 528 a toll road? If so what are the toll fees?

Depends on what time of day you are traveling. Melbourne is not that far from Titusville.

Is traffic ever at a standstill in that area at any hour (rush hour or non-rush hour)? I have heard a lot of horror storries about traffic on that freeway but my guess is that it wasn't too bad along that stretch.

Traffic in Fl can be at a stand still no matter where you live, depends on construction and accidents.

When there is a launch, traffic on 528 can be at a standstill; US 1 can be at a standstill too. So to answer your question, yes. It is about an 1 hr each way on weekends when traffic isnt bad but I'd imagine it'd be worse during rush hour but I don't live out there so I wouldn't know. Look at online traffic reports in the morning to find out. And 528 is a toll road.
