Coming to Orlando
Hello. I will be interviewing in Orlando next week. I'm staying overnight at a hotel in the airport. 2 questions: which areas should I ride through to get a good sense of Orlando, the less touristy the better. I want to get the best sense of the local scene. Also, the job is located in zip 32859. What area's would be best of for me to live as a single 28 year old female? I don't mind up to a 45-50 minute commute. I really like mixed-use communties or developments. But somewhere that's good for young professional singles. I'm looking to rent for up to 1000 for a 1 bedroom. Thanks for your help.

Winter park, college park or Thornton park are some areas you will want to look at for the real Orlando. Stay away from International drive and 192 or central Florida parkway as those are very touristy areas.

If your looking for a place where clubs are located then downtown orlando.
Other than that, altamonte is nice, winter park, heathrow, but it all gets pricey. Depends how much you want to spend.

grab a map and check out the downtown area (thornton park, eola heights, delaney). also, grab an Orlando Weekly if you see one at a restaurant, gas station, etc. it will give you a good idea of culture and things to do in orlando.
winter park is also awesome. its so beautiful near rollins college and park ave area. it's pricey, but a one bedroom in your price range is feasible.

I don't know where you are coming from, but if you are single and are not going to buy a home, you do not want to commute very far from your job. I live in Lake County because homes are cheaper (or were when I bought mine) and commute because our jobs have no long term job security. But let me tell you how bad the traffic is during our long long rush hours. Well, if you come down here, you will see for yourself. Anyhow, Winter Park is just fabulous. I love the Winter Park Village and the lovely downtown. The zip code area you mentioned doesn't appear to be that far from Winter Park.
