We will be moving to Oviedo this year. Knowing there are "good" and "bad" pockets everywhere, what are the "bad" pockets of Oviedo? Thanks!

I wouldn't call them it so much "bad" because Oviedo truly doesn't have any areas one could designate that way, but in my opinion would avoid the southern section closer to UCF due to traffic congestion and higher numbers of student rental housing which are often in traditional single family home neighborhoods.

Thanks. I was thinking closer to the UCF wouldn't be ideal for us. People name so many subdivisions/'towns' inside Oviedo, that I haven't gotten a handle on the areas yet.

I can't name any 'bad' area, there are poor areas but just because someone is poor doesn't make them bad. Normally you can just drive through an area and know if you feel comfortable or not.

You could check the Oviedo and Seminole county crime reports though. Maybe they will tell you something worthwhile.

Good luck.

Hello Cathe,
Did you end up moving to Oviedo or spotting out the good/not so good areas of Oviedo?

Haven't moved as of yet. Still working on that. And now I am trying to wrap my head around that the kids might not get into the school I want them to due to kids transferring from other areas? That is ridiculous.

You might want to consider the Tuskawilla area. Very nice community and close to restaurants, Oviedo mall, and highways.

Seminole County Schools are so overwhelmed with people moving in for the school quality and some schools (like Seminole MS and Seminole HS here in Sanford which have magnet programs) are filled to capacity and even if in the zone would have to go to other schools further away. I don't think any of the Oviedo schools are magnet programs so can't imagine why attending your zoned school should be a problem.

I think anywhere in 32765 is going to be a good fairly safe place to live. I live in a townhouse community behind a very large apartment complex, which I believe may be rent-controlled, and I've never had any issues or real concerns. There was an issue with a peeping tom a few years ago, but stuff does happen everywhere from time to time.
