Being from the West Coast, I grew up with and love Mexican food A LOT.
I have noticed that there are several places in Orlando, but a lot of them are closing that I have visited and enjoyed. Some of the recently closed Mexican restaurants that I have enjoyed but have closed have been Don Pablos (3 locations in town closed recently) and the Amigos on E Colonial. I know that these are chains and there are more of them, as well as some well known non chains that I should try out. I wanted to start this thread and see if anyone knows of any great Mexican Restaurants in town I should try! Thanks for any imput! Some of the big ones I have heard about and would like any imput on would be: Colibri in Baldwin Park El Cerro by UCF Maria Bonita on Colonial near Dean PR's in Winter Park |

Thank you once again for your edifying commentary. Anyone else that has a valid opinion and credibility?

I personally LOVE Amigos but its Tex Mex rather then what you might be used to in California.
I found a place in the parking lot of The Florida Mall, I can't recall the name, its across from Old Time Pottery. |

Garibaldi's? I have been to the one on Semoran in Azalea Park. Are they ran by the same people?

If you want real authentic Mexican head out to Apopka. There are authentic taqueria's on just about every other block.

Do you have any names of places you've tried? I am definitely up for the drive.
I have a Grandma in El Paso, Texas, when I last visited her I had the best tamales, and something like that would be amazing if I could find it here! |

Hey I lived in CA for a long time too and miss a good Mexican restaurant. Been here in central FL for 3 years now and haven't found anything comparable.

That is what I think too. I mean one guy insulted my taste in Mexican food and I know Don Pablos is not the greatest, but I have not found the same level that I have from Cali and the Pacific NW. I was in Old Town San Diego last August and going to Portland in April possibly, but I want that here. At least the closest thing I can get to that.
