Orlando has Orange Ave and Magnolia running parallel as pretty much the main boundaries of street-level activity. Both are very aesthetically-pleasing, IMO, but are filled with a relatively high concentration of aggressive panhandlers. Heck, even when going to Lake Eola Park with my kids on a weekend we get harassed. It's a nuisance. Walking from your parking spot to your destination? Expect to not only get approached multiple times and then cussed at for not giving change, you'll also likely see a few people sleeping on the sidewalk swimming in their own **** and vomit. The city really could do a better job at controlling this.

And by the way, I do like Orlando. Just saying it like it is.
I think it's just where I came from, homelessness was such a huge issue that everything seems like nothing in comparison. California is just a hot mess when it comes to this. My GF and I still talk about how little homeless there are when we go to Downtown, although when we go we are usually along Orange Ave or Lake Eola.

This is true but there is no easy answer because our society is based on commerce.
Poor people are left behind. I would like to see the homeless rounded up and sent to
centers where they can be fed, clothed, and trained to do something useful as a job to
start getting their life back. Maybe start with the easy stuff like having them pick up
garbage, mow grass in municipal areas, wash the school buses, or paint things like
the bathroom at the lake. But it's not that simple. I have been told that 90% of the
homeless have given up and refuse to work or make something of themselves.

I think the working people who pay taxes to maintain the city have a right to use it
and to that end I would like to see the homeless taken out of the downtown so more
people could enjoy it without feeling harassed by the beggars and homeless.

Like I said, there is no easy answer..

Heritage is decent, but it's VERY close to some pretty crappy areas... As in directly adjacent.

One of my friends moved out of one of the apartments in Millenia because there were a lot of break-ins... it's a great area to hang out and shop, but crime is an issue even in those pretty apartments because as mentioned already it is near some very bad areas and it seems these nice apartments are targets for them.
