We are looking to relocate from North Carolina to the Orlando area, but don't know the different parts of town very well. We are looking for good schools, safe area, family friendly. Happened across an absolutely lovely house in our price range that is located in Andover Cay, but I don't know anything about the neighborhood or about that part of town. Any advice or comments, either positive or negative, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! ![]() Jon |

I am not sure if my friends lived in Andover Cay or one of the other developments around it, but I do know their area was called Andover something. They lived right behind the Albertsons off of Dean and Curry Ford. They moved out of that area because some of the houses went up for rent and it was becoming more increasingly populated by Puerto Ricans. With that being said, they never experienced any crime or anything. They just began to become the minority in the neighborhood and did not feel as comfortable as when they first moved there. Some of the houses just east of there are larger and nicer, I drive by there every morning on my way to work. If it is the development east of Albertsons, I think you are fine! Hope that could help. There are probably about 5 subdivisions around there with Andover in the title.

The one I was thinking of is Andover Lakes.
There is Andover Lakes, Andover Lakes I and Andover Lakes II. I and II are nicer then Andover Lakes. Andover Cay is the nicest of the "Andovers". It appears to be really well kept up. |

it is very hispanic that area, and i would (personally) advise against those areas. i have been through that area, and it was nice and well kept for a while, but as the ppl have left and the newcomers arrive, the neighborhood has deteriorated.

While there is a large hispanic population in east Orlando around SR 435...the area I live in (much further east) has a wide mixture of people is not distinctly hispanic. This is also the area of Andover Cay. Besides, while I don't have but one or two hispanic neighbors, they are very nice and their homes are well kept. I have not seen any of our surrounding neighborhoods deteriorate.

Some may be confusing the subdivisions. I do not not care what race lives there currently (Andover Cay), it still looks kept up.

If you're still thinking of relocating, I would suggest it. I live in Andover Cay and absolutely love it. The HOA is a little stringent, but it makes for a wonderful neighborhood. My neighbors are all friendly people, and the neighborhood is close to Waterford Lakes, the hospital, and schools. Anywhere you live in Orlando is going to have a relatively high hispanic population, but that demographic in my subdivision knows how to take care of their homes.
Good luck!! |

Andover Cay is nice my mom lives down the road off dean not too much crime in the area either.
Just don`t go looking for houses north of lake underhill on dean road that area is a different story and has allways been crappy as long as I have lived in Orlando(25yrs). A woman was just murdered at jay blanchard park last week. |
