There are shootings and break ins in the most expensive neighborhoods in Florida too.
It's Florida. Crime is not limited to this neighborhood or that neighborhood.
As far as the millenia area goes, you want anything before you reach Conroy/ Americana street.
Why?
Guess how long that area lost electricity during hurricane Irma?
It didn't.
That area is on the same power grid as OUC.
It never loses electricity.
Surrounding areas had no electricity for up to a week.
But that area never lost it.
And everyone from all over central Florida was flooding that area during that time because they had nothing where they were.
That area does not have to deal with generators and stocking up on non perishable foods and all that crap.
You can cook what ever you want in your own kitchen with all your electricity on right in the middle of the hurricane.
Or you can go to Dr. Philips and eat peanut butter crackers for a week the next time a storm comes.
Park central? Good luck if you are relocating in a few weeks. There is usually a waiting list.
Metrowest is near a ghetto. So? It's also near Tiger Woods house.
I like it there but they lost electricity during/ after the hurricane.
I would avoid Park Central. There was a shooting there where an officer was shot (and another person) last year. 55 West is known as being loud/party central. I would choose Integra Cove out of all of those options.
My boyfriend's friend lives there. As well as like five thousand other people. There was a domestic dispute there last year. An ex shot their ex or something.
Stuff like that happens in the fanciest of neighborhoods too. Especially in Florida.
Look what happened to poor Gianni Versace. And he didn't even know the guy that shot him.
There was no officer that was shot there. There was an officer that was shot somewhere outside of park central and not even that close to park central. While the suspect was on the run the park central people told all the residents to stay inside until he was captured just in case.
The suspect never even entered park central. And that wasn't last year. It was a while ago. No cop was shot in park central.
I'm going to buy a condo there. To use as an investment/ vacation home.
I am so sold on the hurricane situation in that area and I think PC is the best choice. It's definately the prettiest and has the most amenities. Convienently located to all. Plenty of people like you coming to Florida for me to rent to and profit off of if I choose.
But I'm waiting for a two bedroom that has a good view.
Who wants a view of a parking lot or just plain grass and trees?
Millenia is a great area to shop, eat or buy a luxury car, but it is very close to a really bad ghetto and some of the trash spills over into the apartments around Millenia. One of my friends moved out of her apartment because there were a lot of break ins to her neighbors and didn't feel safe despite it being gated. If you do choose Millenia, rent a condo from an owner rather than an apartment.
My parents are friends with these extremely wealthy people that have a home in a very expensive gated community in Palm Beach. Their home was broken into. They are old school and didn't bother wasting their money on flat screen TVs or anything like that so all the burglars took was some very expensive electric razor belonging to her husband.
I grew up in a nice neighborhood.
One of my neighbor's homes was broken into when I was a young child. The criminals got caught and every one ran out and got security systems.
The reasons these places were targeted is because they were in nice areas so the crooks thought they would be more likely to get nice things.
Your comments sound so ignorant.
And I love that ghetto area by millenia. It's filled with Haitians. They speak with French accents and are very well mannered.
I so don't get your condo vs. apartment comment.
It really doesn't matter.
They are the same thing.
Park Central ITSELF may be ok, but unlike many other complexes, the security gates (and the giant wall) are there for a very important reason. The wall is to ward off people on the other side of it, which, along with Parramore, is the absolute worst part of Orlando. I'd avoid anything near Texas Ave and Americana, but that's just me.
Yes, everywhere gets break-ins and is subject to crime, but why willingly expose oneself to an area that is known for drug activity, gangs, prostitutes, etc.?
Again, Park Central may be fine, but its immediate surroundings are cause for concern.
Also, in response to the comment about the ghetto and Haitians, I love Pine Hills for similar reasons. But I certainly wouldn't want to live there.

Right, that's why Pine Hills is the safest neighborhood in Central Florida because nobody wants to break into a cheap home and why Islesworth is the most crime ridden part of the city!
Sorry but your attempts at political correctness is a bunch of lying bull **** that is doing a great diservice to someone not familiar with Central Florida.

Exactly. Liking to go to certain low-income, immigrant heavy can be nice when looking to visit parts of town with varying cultural differences (i.e., dining, shopping... like I said earlier, I routinely go to Pine Hills for certain things, but certainly wouldn't live there given the choice), but trying to convince anyone that Park Central is in a safe area (when it's right in the middle of one of the most drug and gang-infested parts, separated only by a gate, a wall and trees) is ridiculous.

"A 20-year-old woman was driving the car Redding was in at Savannah at Park Central apartments, near John Young Parkway and Americana Boulevard, when Redding started firing, Demings said. Stelter was shot several times, and the woman was shot in the arm."

It's not like I witnessed it personally. I'm not going to bother to read the article. But I'm guessing the cop lived which is why it wasn't made into a big drama. But then again I could be wrong. I guess I just don't really care.

That's why the gates are there? I thought that they were there to add to the charm of the place. They are so pretty. Wrought iron with gold tips. They are the same types of fences that wrap around the grounds of mansions in the guilded era. I love them so much. And now that I know that they serve an actual purpose as well I love them even more. What a brilliant and beutiful way to add security.
You seem to know a lot about the area. I currently live in Atlanta but I am looking for an investment/ vacation home in Orlando.
I have researched and viewed condos for sale all over the central Florida area. And it seems that park central has the most value to it.
What other place can you reccomend?
It would need to have at least everything that park central has.
1. It has to have a waiting list to rent there most of the time. If it's in demand it's a good investment.
2. I have a very large dog and it's considered to be a dangerous breed. It is very hard to find a place in Orlando that is dog friendly. And even more difficult to find a place that accepts large dogs. I feel as a dog owner this place is a great fit. With all the parks and paths and ponds/ lakes and stuff. And I think that makes it a good investment. There are many dog lovers in the world. And their options are limited in Orlando. Which will make park central always in demand for renters and buyers that are dog owners. And there are a lot of dog owners. And when people move to Orlando, they want to bring their dogs. So it has to allow all kinds of dogs.
3. The grounds have to be as well manicured as park central. And since you are familiar with the place you are aware that it's as well manicured as any Disney Resort.
4. It has to be in a location convenient to all.
5. It has to be within five minutes of high end shopping like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, etc.
5. It has to be within five minutes of a billion places to eat
6. It must have multiple pools and jacuzzis
7. It must have tennis courts
8. It must have volleyball courts
9. It must have a gym
10. It must have a sauna
11. It must have a yoga room
12. It must have free yoga, zoomba, spinning, etc classes available daily free of cost to its residents
13. It must have a movie theater
14. It must have a restaraunt/ bar
15. It must have a convienience/ grocery/ beer& wine and everything else store
16. It must have multiple parks, ponds, bike paths, dockside gazebos, stuff like that
17. It must have some sort of Florida wild life to add to the tropical charm of being in Florida. Like flamingo looking birds and turtles and stuff
18. It must have luxury club houses available to rent out for special events for very cheap prices by the residents
19. It must be on a priority power grid so it doesn't go more then six minutes with out electricity when a hurricane/ tropical storm etc hits.
20. It must be in a no flood zone so it does not flood in the case of a hurricane, tropical storm, etc.
21. It must have an indoor basketball court complete with electric score boards that is nicer then any high school gym that I have ever seen. And the indoor basketball court has to come with an interesting story like the one at park central which was donated by two Orlando Magic baketball players that bought condos there. Stories like that appeal even more to the potential renter or buyer. Especially the dumb guy ones.
22. It has to have a car wash area and those machines that you stick a quarter in to vacuum your car.
23. It has to have tons of palm trees and tropical flowers and stuff.
24. It has to be built to handle category five hurricanes and have those special hurricane windows that can handle wind up to 155mph.
25.There has to be a lot of new business going to the area. I read an article on line in the sentinel I think that said the millenia area was going to turn into the next Disney springs because so many new things are going to that area. So it needs to have a situation like that so that I know it will go up in value.
Because who the heck would by some mediocre condo in a place where all they have is a pool and some little crappy work out room just because it's farther from a ghetto? Because that's pretty much all the places further from the ghetto have. Not good investments, not in demand, and not very vacation like since they offer so little.
I haven't seen a place better then park central value wise.
So what are your suggestions?
Where should I choose?
Where will I make the most off my investment?
What place has more amenities giving it more of a resort style/ time share vacation feel to it in Orlando?
What place is a better place for hurricanes, etc.
What place has all of these things that is far far away from a ghetto?
And I don't mind that it's near a ghetto. If I did I would be looking into losing money on some mediocre place far far away from a ghetto for the same price I could buy at park central.
And I'm not one of those people that stays with in the resort when I travel to exotic places because outside of the resort is considered dangerous. I always leave the resort and explore the "ghettos" and I love it. I'm guessing you are not the same way. So I really don't care if there is a place that has more to offer then park central that is far from a ghetto because a ghetto near by doesn't bother me. The point is you can't come up with another place in central Florida that has all that which is why it's a good place to be and invest in.
Ps. Look how good I am at selling the place already! Lol. That's why I want it. It's so perfect!
