Hi there, I've been an Orlando resident for a while, and been a long time Meetup member, too...so I've experienced Meetups come and go, but lately...a lot of them seem to get off to a good start, or just a "meh" start, and fizzle out after a few events.

Some are still on life support with but only less than 5 attendees RSVP'ing yes.

There are some "social" groups out there that have a once a month thing, and have like 80+ attendees, then in most cases, you never see the same people make returns...no one becomes regulars like they had in the older days of Meetup.

It's become a revolving door of one-time attendees. They don't stick around long enough to form friendships.

Also, I believe over time, the site has become over-saturated with Meetup groups, with some attendees signing up for over 100 meetup groups.

Anyone notice this?

I haven't noticed this, but when I do go to a meetup, it's usually one that is already established for awhile.

I have noticed this too. I went to a racquetball meetup once. Then there was never an event posted. My thoughts on that one was that the other guys were better than me, and 3 in racquetball is a crowd. So they probably call each other direct to play.

I did sign up for a bunch when I got here and then they all closed down. To be fair, I never went to any of those and maybe they had an attendance problem so wasn't worth staying open.

Right, there's not much "staying power" with Meetups lately.

If you like hiking and other outdoor stuff the Florida Trail Association meetups are usually the same folks.

The meetup is Central and Highlanders combined. Central chapter is Orlando and Highlanders is more Lake County where is where you end up hiking a lot anyway.

They also do a lot of urban/historic tour type hikes. They also have potlucks and picnics, etc.

Nice people.

They’ve got one of their historic walks- through Longwood this time- on Saturday, March 3. Then lunch and fellowship.

I don’t live up there but do visit when I do make it up there.
