The Florida mall area is not the best area of town in general.
You may want to look into Conway or Hunter's Creek. $600 is not a lot for an apartment here. I would say the low end for a nice apartment is around $800. Hope that helps, I am trying to be honest but not negative =) Let me know if you have any more questions on the area! |

I live in Conway and can get to the FL Mall in about 15 minutes or so.
I usually go on the weekends, so I am not in morning traffic. Hunter's Creek may take a little longer because OBT and John Young have a lot of traffic and intersections with long lights, but I would estimate about 20 minutes. I like a lot of the apartments in the Lee Vista/Econlockhatchee Trail area and Baldwin Park areas too that you may want to look at, but then you could be looking at 25 to 30 minutes. I am bad at time estimates, because I usually leave way ahead of time and arrive very early. I am usually amazed how fast I can get places. |

Check Belle Isle. I don't know if you'll find an apartment there, but it's an older community that tends to be quieter and is just a few miles from the mall.

I've been here for only 3 weeks and live in Hunters Creek..seems to be a very nice area and great school system. The people don't seem too friendly but as far as a nice area..I must say Hunter's Creek is quite lovely. Its about 7 minutes away from the mall.

also, I can guarantee you will not find any apartments for 600..maybe 900 and up.

What I don't get is with the pay so low down here, how do these landlords get such high rents. The only thing I can think of is you have to have a roommate to rent around here. It used to not be this way,

You know..i've wondered the same thing since I've been here. Everyone seems so happy go lucky, nice cars, tons of stores...shop shop shop..it seems!! How do people survive down here with such low pay? I think I need to start up a new thread..my family and I have often wondered how folks manage down here?
