Hi
Can any helpful person tell me what crime is like and the crime stats for this area. There doesn't seem to be anything on City-Data or on CNN Money 'Best Places to Live'. Thank you. |

There is crime all over Florida, there seems to be some stigma attached to finding out about the crime in an area before moving there, unfortunately you cannot get away from crime no matter where you live. Deland is a nice
area with a noted University there. There are numerous horse ranches in the outerlying areas. It's mid-way between Orlando and Daytona. Also there are farms and the area is home to a large migrant population that work the crops in season. It really is a beautiful area, you will enjoy it if you like a small town with history and countryside living on the outskirts. Hope this helps somewhat and good luck with your move! |

Try searching the City of Deland site for links to the Police dept, their local newspaper is probably on the net, the TV stations are and Inside Central Florida is a good site for links. http://www.dogpile.net will find them for you.
