Thank you. There is nothing wrong with sharing similar experiences. Let her take the steps she thinks are necessary to overcome her fear.

Honey, we can all sit here and say we haven't seen snakes, it's okay, don't worry, etc. I, myself, am from Jersey too, and I get it. There's a little more wildlife here. But if you are actually considering leaving your fiance over this, it goes much deeper. PLEASE speak to someone, a therapist or psychiatrist, about this. Trust me, they can do much better than any of us as an online community could do.

Take care, Cindy
Lol..give me a break. That was a little humour about the fiance comment..not a big deal.

I do have a phobia of snakes and I started this post sometime in March (a few weeks of living in Florida)..it is now July. I'm still scared of the darn things..but understand..this was just the beginning stage of my fear. These things happen..

Look up the word phobia..then we can talk..

If she has such a fear that she can't even get out of the house then she needs professional phycological help. Address her pychological problem, not the issue of snakes.
Why is that certain people in this forum cant be sympathetic to one's issues, problems, fears..what is wrong with you people? If youre not interested in the post..simply move on! If you can't familiarize yourself with how one is feeling or what they are going thru, no one is forcing you to read 3 whole pages...just move on the next thread.

Actually you (and the post above you) are incorrect. A severe fear or phobia is not always masking some deep seated problem (marriage problems, financial problems, mental illness…etc)…there are many people who have a fixation-fear with certain things (snakes, germs, heights). Talking with a therapist or psychiatrist, may certainly be helpful but – I don’t think TrishP7 has some deep problem with her life or marriage that her fear of snakes is just masking something else.

There’re plenty of normal mentally healthy humans who have a fear or phobia or certain things. Remember Jaws? After the movie here on the coast of the Northeast, people afraid to go in the water. The mayor of some beach town in Rhode Island ordered shark towers erected on all state beaches.

Did 20 million people suddenly have a “deeper problem” in their life?
Lol..thank you thank you..some folks just go to the extreme and want to start trouble in some of these forums. I appreciate your post!

Moderator, you are more than welcome to close this thread! I started this post almost 5mnths ago and there are still people responding.

I obviously have a major fear about snakes. Moving down south, i realize that I will have more of an encounter with them than I did up North. I've never been exposed to them..never..but now unfortunately I will have to deal with my fear. Phobias are real and we all have them! Some may have not confronted their fear just yet..but they will at some stage.

Once the stupid thread becomes personal due to ignorance it just gets out of hand and then the thread becomes an insult to folks who take this kind of thing serious. Its just ridiculous..some of the comments here.

For the record..the "leaving fiance" comment..was just some humour..its not that deep rooted and serious! It was a joke, people. When I let my fiance read the thread..he thought it was hilarious! Geesh..lighten up!

in either case, I hope that I do overcome this fear and wish the same for those of you out there that can identify with this phobia or the like.

Over and out!

Moderator..do as you wish!

Don`t feel bad I have a phobia of lightning. I`m ok as long as I am inside but wont step a foot out when there is lightning even if it`s far away.

Alpha..Lol..i dont feel bad about my phobia. it is what it is. I just feel bad about those out there that are so insensitive and miserable with themselves which is why they have to inflict stupid insults to others so that they feel better about themselves!

So lightening, huh..I can't relate to your particular phobia..but I can certainly relate to the actions and repercussions!! Lol...
