I really enjoyed the Lake Mary area. I wasn't a fan of the Orlando and Disney scene, I found the beach shores much more peaceful, but Lake Mary is pretty close to all the fun but far enough to get peace of mind

There's just not many new listings coming up at all on Zillow lately, is it harder to find rentals this time of year? Should I plan on just driving down there and looking in person? Would I find more that way than Zillow? Just make the move in with something temporary in an Airbnb or Vrbo and worry about finding a place after I'm there?

I think this may be your best bet. That way you're not tied down to any specific place, and can explore at will before making your final decision. AirBnB might be a bit pricey monthly, but I think it's worth it.

Zillow or contacting apartment companies is your best chance. You could hire a realtor, but most listings (not all) will show up on zillow.

Rialto has a 2/2 starting at $1755... you could see if they have any available. Although, it starts at 1755, so odds are most units will be more around $2k-ish.

Dr. Phillips is a bit anti-apartment buildings so there aren't too many choices.

Bell At Universal, while it's not as prime as Rialto is right next door to Universal. It will still get Dr. Phillips High School. It shows one available between $1720-2055.

Those areas I mentioned before, you just got to keep checking daily. They do come up rather often and are generally $1,400-$1,700 on average. If you can increase your budget, look along Wallace Road as well, there are a lot of townhomes there too.

As a mom, there is no way I'd want my two daughters living in the area near universal and coming home late at night from work if I had other available options. People don't often choose to live near universal. It's usually based on finances. It's not a good area.

What about downtown Orlando? Thornton park specifically or any of the high rises around Lake Eola? There are a ton of rentals down there. it's much safer (still questionable but better) and a quick drive to Universal. You don't want to live near Universal unless you have to.

And your a realtor? Did you just move to Orlando?

Dr. Phillips borders one side of Universal (Dr. Phillips High is literally across the street from Jurassic Park), it's one of the most expensive areas in Orlando. Wallace Road runs into Turkey Lake Road, which runs along Universal. There are high end town homes and houses along Wallace Road. Orange Tree is also right in this area too. Dr. Phillips is arguable the most desirable area to live South of downtown Orlando up there with Windermere.

You then recommend Lake Eola in downtown as a safer alternative for young girls to walk alone at night!? WHAT? lol

There’s no way downtown Orlando is safer than Dr. Phillips. I don’t even like walking around downtown by myself at night.

I'm assuming they're referring to the Millenia area of "near Universal." Everyone knows the Dr. P side of Universal is fine.

Dr. Phillips is next door to Universal, while Millenia is further away. That "realtor" also then recommended Lake Eola as a safe area for young girls to walk home at night? I can only imagine he or she is brand new to Orlando and don't know the areas yet.

My only guess is that they were referring to living off of Kirkman, Vineland or Conroy... which I agree is not a great area. But I guess that poster forgot that DP is directly across the street from Universal on the other side.
