Far enough so that I don't have to ever deal with tourist traffic, unless I want to. Not too far that I can't drive to Disney and enjoy a full day with my family, or out of town friends. I live in Seminole County, and Disney is about a 40-50 minute drive, front door to parking lot Goofy 49.

I live about 15-20 minutes from the gates of Disney but my location allows me to feel completely seperated. I mostly golf at Disney but living so close, I never have any problem seeing my family that lives in New York. They are here on average 2-3 times a year to visit, work conventions, etc. so I do not miss out on my growing nieces and nephews. I live in Hunter's Creek.

I used to live in Daytona Beach and it had taken me 45 minutes drive to Disney, without rush hour traffic pattern.
