I would move to Medellin before I would move to socialist, bad climate Europe. Europe is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Medellin has a fabulous climate, progressive government and is my favorite city in Colombia. Making a living is another story though, but with the exchange you can get a great place to live cheap. I do not care for and have never cared for Orlando. Its too hot, too many tourists and awful traffic. We bought our car there and haven't been back since. The only time we go is to catch a flight.

Medellin has its own issues........My neighbor was there a few months back and they were throwing rocks at the tour buses. They never left the hotel.

Colombians brought the city of Medellín to a standstill on Thursday, November 21, during a nationwide strike over grievances with current President Iván Duque’s government.

Over 250,000 people took to the streets in cities across Colombia, reported Reuters, in some of the biggest anti-government marches the country has seen in recent years.

Really tough language to learn. I took it in college.

We're self employed, so we tend to prefer areas with poor wages, because, to us, they tend to be a real bargain in terms of what you get for your money and don't always think about the other side of that. Instead we focus on what is available (ie beach access, entertainment, shopping, etc.)

You'll have to pay US income taxes and your host country's income taxes - sometimes you'll only have to pay US taxes, but figure it out before you go.

Look into smaller US cities first, Austin or San Antonio, Texas, Richmond, VA, Washington DC, Hoboken, NJ, Williamsburg, VA, Boston, MA before going overseas.

You have to file US taxes when living overseas, but in most cases you won't actually pay any. Most countries have tax treaties with the US, and, even if they don't, your first $120,000 or so ( 2x that if married) are generally not taxed. If you make a high salary and aren't in a treaty country (and basically the entire EU are tax treaty countries), you'll pay some US taxes, but that's a fairly slim minority of people.

The bigger issue is European immigration.

Lmao, I was thinking the same thing.. This country is currently in a massive downward spiral, and it's all due to a deep-state operation launched by the Clintons.. Trumpsacks are always good for a laugh...

I am in the exact same situation. I am 40, married, baby, own a property in Kissimmee (thats worth 1/4th what I paid for it), am working in Miami, finishing up my Bachelors this Spring. I lived in Central Florida for 15 years and absolutely hate it, I prefer Miami mainly because of the better job prospects.

If I had my choice, I'd move back up to Pennsylvania but that would require convincing the whole family unit to deal with winters up there, which it is not a very receptive thing at this point. The property taxes and income taxes are higher up north in PA, NJ, and NY but the pay and working conditions a ). Speaking of Food, it is SO MUCH better in the North East. Think about the regional food: NY Pizza, Philly Cheesesteak, Boston Seafood, compared to Orlando's what Publix Sub???

I've worked overseas too, and can attest that you cannot just jump from nation to nation making a living. The EU States are very restrictive about limiting immigrants entering their borders to exploit social benefits and services (US citizens would be there like zombie hordes for healthcare alone if the borders were open).

You may want to look outside this state, travel a bit and you will find there is a much better place to settle. Just remember some states you will be double taxed if you live in one and work in another via income and state taxes (I know long time/life time Florida residents need to hear that).
