I'll be moving soon from a two-bedroom 1,200 sq ft apt on a third story walk-up (no elevator) to a house about a 10 minute drive away. Can anyone recommend a good value yet reliable moving company in the Orlando / Winter Garden area?

Our last move was from out-of-state to FL and was cheap--rented a truck, had friends drive, pack the truck, and unload. Also hired a few hours of time on each end to load and unload the truck. We also packed and sealed our own boxes.

This time around, we're still packing and sealing our own boxes. But we'd like to hire a moving company that uses their own truck, will do all the loading and unloading of the truck, etc. Some friends may help us pack boxes, but I'm not going to ask them to load / unload and move boxes in the Florida summer heat.

What are the right questions to ask (or things to not mention) for getting a good yet accurate quote?

Also, there may be some overlap between when we Close and can start moving in, and when our lease officially ends. With both residences being a mere 10 minute drive away, we may elect to load up the cars a do a few shuttle runs for at least small boxes and other lighter items.

Are there any Orlando-area moving companies to *avoid*? (some things are not a good value at any cost). Don't want to be scammed, (have our stuff) slammed, or ripped-off in general.

Finally, to save time (and get our full deposit back), we'd like to hire a cleaning company to make our place move-in ready after we move out. Who would folks recommend that are affordable, reliable, and thorough? And which should we avoid.

I have used Expedient Movers three times and found their pricing fair but more importantly reliable/on time, plus good workers. https://expedient-movers.com/we-are-expedient-movers/

Thanks Kyle. I'll add them to my list. I'd like to get at least 3 quotes.

Can anyone recommend an Orlando-area AMSA certified ProMover (moving.org). Clark Howard suggests picking a mover with this certification.

Knightmovers. I've used them a bunch. They bring 3 guys so it goes fast.

I can highly recommend Best Movers of America.

When we moved within FL last year, I got 3 quotes and BMA was much cheaper than the other two companies. We had moved many times with the US military before but this move (not in connection with the military but on our own) was the best of all. These 3 guys that they sent worked hard and did not damage nor scratch anything!

The company has very good reviews on the internet and delivered exactly what they promised without charging us an arm and a leg.

Thanks folks. Any other suggestions or tips? Also looking for a good and reliable apartment cleaner in the Orlando area. Guess I should create a separate post for that.

Thanks bmw. In their quote, Two Men and a Truck included a $185 Travel Charge. I was told this was because their nearest office is around 20 miles away, etc. Is this typical of movers or can I request it be waived? I've used another Two Men and a Truck franchise in NC and was super happy with their service and total move cost. Just wondering about this fee.
