Hello there! My family (husband, 5 year old daughter and I) moved to Raleigh, NC a year ago from Cape Coral, FL but we are looking to move back to FL to be closer to family and to things we love (Disney being one of the top things on the list). We decided to look into Tampa or Orlando area, rather than going back to Cape Coral. We really want a family friendly area that is close to big city offerings like museums, zoo, aquarium, etc.

We have visited Tampa and liked the northern part (Wesley Chapel) but we are interested in looking more into the orlando area. I have read great things about places like Dr Phillips, Windermere, Winter Park and Winter Garden on these threads. They are definitely over our price range as far as buying a house in these areas but we would want to rent first anyway no matter where we end up so for now thats not a huge concern.

What I did want to hear more about are areas like Clermont and even more interested in Davenport. I didn’t find a ton of info about it in these forums but would love to hear what others have to say who live in or near those areas.

Probably most important things to us would be crime/safety as we have a young daughter and not too far from things like libraries, playgrounds and museums, etc. One thing we did not like when we visited the Tampa area was it seemed some really nice neighborhoods were mixed with not so great areas and neighborhoods rather than being spread out. Is it like this in the surrounding towns of Orlando?

Thanks so much for any and all information to help us make a decision!

I am new the Fl but moved to the clermont area. Very nice area. I looked at Davenport and just got a bad vibe. Once I saw clermont, I knew this was the area for me

It's a Florida thing in general so due diligence is key when choosing a neighborhood. Drive through in the early evenings to get a sense of neighborhood identity, versus the middle of the day which often tells a different story.
