Hello,

We are relocating to Florida from South Bend Indiana. I will be working in Altamonte Springs. We are interested in learning what surrounding cities would be good to considered to search for homes. We have No kids, 50 years of age, travel, bike, hike, kayak. Home budget 375,000. Willing to commute up to 45 minutes. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would start in the Altamonte Springs area. Wekiva and Sweetwater Oaks are two very nice established communities in neighboring Longwood. https://www.trulia.com/for_sale/Long...0_price/15_zm/
If you prefer newer construction the Lake Mary/Longwood Hills area is a good option just a few minutes further and still would not require the dreaded I-4 commute. https://www.trulia.com/for_sale/28.7...0_price/14_zm/ There's also a nice pocket of homes straddling 434 just east of I-4 that's well-established and kept up that's very desirable for location and safety. https://www.trulia.com/for_sale/28.6...0_price/16_zm/

I second the sweet water oaks area. I worked with clients with the same age, similar budget and interests and they bought in that area and love it. They bought new construction.

Default Short rentals

One question we had was if there are any opportunities for short term apartment rental that allow pets. 2 chihuahuas and 2 cats. This provide us some extra time to in purchasing a home. Any thoughts.

Some of the higher end properties that do a lot of corporate rentals would probably be best. Check out places in neighboring Maitland like Q at Maitland, Village at Lake Lily, Arium at Maitland Summit or Dwell. There is a large corporate center in Maitland that draws a considerable number to the area.

Try some of the Extend Stay places

Marriott and major hotel brands have places

Not sure in pets but worth the phone call

Good luck

Chlrtr,

Have you looked in the Lake Mary area up to Deland/Deltona/Debary?

The Altamonte Springs area is pretty "urban", in that it is built up and crowded.

Wekiva Springs/Sweetwater area is a good option as mentioned by others. There
are bike trails, hiking areas, etc.

Lake Mary offers similar things (still fairly built up), but also fairly expensive. The
Deland/Deltona area is more "rural" and you can buy more house for your money.

This would be a further commute, but one area to check out.

Good luck,
@movetoorlando
