Smile Memorial Day in Melbourne

I'll be spending Memorial Day weekend around the Melbourne, Fl area with my boyfriend. Is there anything going on during that weekend? Anything I should see, being that I don't get to go there often?
Thanks!

Sarah,
There is nothing exciting goiong on Memorial Day weekend. It is fun to stroll down New Haven Ave where there are many cute shops and antique stores. I love watching the sunset from the Charthouse restaurant. And if you are looking for an amazing church on Sunday, check out Calvary Chapel Melbourne (2955 Minton road) it has amazing music and a great preacher.

Well we aren't a huge tourist spot, but there are a couple of enjoyable things. Namely, the beach. Most tourists/people in general go to Boardwalk, which is right at the end of 5th Ave (the road the Melbourne causeway is on). There are some eating places there and surf shops along the area in Indiatlantic. If you want to get away from the crowds though, just drive along A1A, north or south, and look for a beach access.
I love watching the sunset over the river (drive beachside and park wherever). There are benches set up in little parks along the river and it's nice and quiet.
Again, we don't have too much stuff to do here for tourists, it's more of a living community. People enjoy Downtown Melbourne (but most stores are closed on Sunday, and probably this Monday as well). It's a quaint little area filled with little shops and places to eat. It's on the way to the beach if you are driving on 192.
If you and your boyfriend are in the 18-early 30's age group, Calvary Chapel, the church mentioned in the post before mine, has a service that starts at 6:05 on Sunday nights called Fusion, the music is great and so is the pastor.
