To answer your other question about Winter in the title of these places.
Winter Park was historically a winter retreat for the wealthy and is why it remains a "old money" part of town with very nice homes. The others probably follow that same idea since Florida is the snowbird state and some people live here seasonally.

You are absolutly right about Colonial and i wouldnt encourage anyone to look in Winter Garden too close to Colonial. you are right, there are many areas which are also very close if not in Windermere such as the location i live which is great. For me, what shocks Clients about Winter Park is it is very expensive, very nice but very expensive, and when you move to the east side your getting closer to downtown and the slummy areas, Winter Park is very close to downtown which makes it a great place if you dont want a long commute, but there is also a premium attached to it, and if you dont want to pay the premium you tend to get into the slums. My only issue with Winter Springs is the dreadful access making commuting anywhere a nightmare. That is one reason i love Winter Garden/Windermere because of its fantastic access with 429, 408 and the Turnpike all right there making commuting anywhere very quick and easy.

Winter Park is nice but has more affordable parts on the eastside. Some of those areas are dumpy. The majority of Winter Park is very nice and very expensive. Winter Springs is nice too, just different. I think of it as more "woodsy" and green than Winter Garden so it can feel small and far away. It is one of the harder areas in the city to commute to and from because of freeway access and distance. The "Winters" are all pretty nice and have good homes and options. I cannot speak for Winter Haven though since I have only seen it on an ext sign from I-4. I totally agree about Silence's agenda but have determined it is more effective to just ignore him or her. All of his or her opinions have no validity to me.

Orlando once did have a lot of the things downtown that some people complain are missing like department stores, newstands, a movie theater etc. The reason they all closed down was because of the malls. When they built the malls, people stopped going downtown for these things.

Winter Park also had more to offer downtown at one time as well. I remember as a kid going to the Colony Theater on Park Ave.

But that phenomenon is not unique to Orlando. The trend in most cities is going back to condos and things to do downtown, but Orlando is not quite there yet. Downtown is not an absolute wasteland though and doesn't close at 5 like some cities though either.

The bacteria in lakes in is not unique to Orlando and only occurs during the hot summer months, so I don't understand your statement 'every month a body is found'.

This is a known health risk in FL and has been for over 30 years.

Please post a link to where you got the information about a body being found every month.

You are both right, it use to be downtown was the only place to shop in many cities. Tampa use to have dept. stores but the only ppl who shopped their were ppl who worked downtown, so the stores closed.
Tampa is also trying to revitalize their downtown with condos and lofts. There is very little nightlife in Tampa's downtown.

It's not the comments, its the execution. I mean I say negative things about Orlando all the time but I never had anything deleted. I really don't like anything about Orlando, but I try not to overly dramatize on things unless I'm replying to something that is overly dramatic and I try to give credit where it is due.
