Hello,
Planning a move back to Central FL and I'm particularly looking at the Clermont/Minneola area. We both work from home fulltime and are looking for a community that's safe (low crime) and where the houses aren't on top of each other (trees and some privacy). No kids so schools are not an issue. Wanted to move to where my Mom is at in Oviedo but Seminole County has gotten ridiculously pricy. Price range would probably be up to 350K, don't need a huge house as it's just the 2 of us and a 30 lb dog
Any honest opinions welcomed, thanks.

I would also recommend Northern Lake County where you'll get a similar bang for the buck. Mount Dora, Eustis, Sorrento and Mount Plymouth have a lot of nice homes under 300K in safe neighborhoods with low density and space. https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...66,12&qdm=true Another option probably off the radar for you but perhaps but worth considering is Titusville, Mims, Port St John and parts of Cocoa (west end). That area has rebounded considerably from the NASA layoffs thanks to the expansion of Space-X jobs (and affiliated industry) at the Kennedy Space Center.....however home prices are still well below comps in Orange and Seminole County yet not far from Oviedo, and a good bit closer than Clermont. https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...94,11&qdm=true

Clermont/Minneola is a far better option over Mount Dora and Eustis. I can explain further if needed, but a simple stay in either area for a weekend should tell you enough. I lived in the latter for 10+ years.

Thank you for the links and info. Hadn't considered the Space Coast but I do love that area also.

I liked Mount Dora for the downtown, though parking was ridiculous. Eustis is nice but seems a little hit or miss in areas..I did like the lakeside subdivisions though.

Tavares is making something of a comeback and has a nice charm about it too.

It really has a nice quality of life minus the incessant tourism aspect of some of the Orlando area which isn't for everyone. As a native Floridian I get more of an appealing "old Florida" vibe out of places like Titusville/Melbourne or Eustis/Tavares. Clermont has that as well but is too close to tourist-land for my liking.

I totally understand that. I love Oviedo for the areas of town that still have that Old Florida charm, though it has certainly been watered down a little bit over the 15 years that Mom has been there. I think it was a victim of its own popularity. I also really enjoyed Eustis for that same reason.
