Question Memorial Day Weekend

Hi, I'll be visiting the area one last time over the coming holiday weekend to decide if I want to move there or not and wanting to see what is going on around town? Any festivals or social events that anyone knows about? I really want to try and get to know the people for what they are to get a true picture of living there.

Any suggestions? I'm a 32, looking for a little fun in the sun! No Pun intended.

thanks!

You should either hang out with the bar crowd downtown on the weekend or go to a nice restaurant along Restaurant Row in Dr Phillips or Park Ave in Winter Park. I am not sure of any events, but you may want to check iseeflorida.com, orlandoweekly.com, or a cityguide through AOL or whatnot. There is usually a lot of small things going on over town. Most of the areas free of tourists are north of the 408 in more of the settled neighborhoods or suburbs. A lot of town centers have some events too like Waterford Lakes Shopping Center, Avalon Park, Lake Eola in downtown, etc.

There's a free concert at Crane's Roost in Altamonte. Here's the link. Click on the calendar for the info. There's a really good band going to be there called 2AM.
Uptown Altamonte - Events
There maybe something at Daytona Beach but I couldn't get the website to work.

As far as I know, there are not a lot of festivals over Memorial Day weekend, like there are up north. When I lived up north I remember there were a lot of things going on during both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, celebrating the beginning and end of the "summer" season.

It's better than the temperatures I experienced in PA this past weekend! It was 42 degrees as a low and 50's during the day in State College. Rainy, drizzly, damp. It's May for heaven's sake. I came home to Orlando last night thinking.... THANK GOD!! I'll take my 90's with humidity and float in my pool with a drink in hand.
