Moving to Orlando in May 2009 Need Advice
I'm moving to orlando next year. Which is a good thing cause i have time to research the area. i have read posting on areas that are bad. Because I will be moving there with teenagers. 14 son and 16 daughter . My boyfriend only tells me the good of moving to Orlando never the bad so I need the real 411. I need advice on a few things. Mainly the good schools, Good area to live. I live in Houston i'm used to bad traffic. And i'm a driver for a car rental company so driving not a problem , I don't mind how far I have to drive just as long as i have a peace of mind and safety is a big factor. I need help with good realtors as well. So if anyone will help me with my information please do.

I would start here...
GreatSchools.net
IMO there is a direct relation with A/B schools and good areas.

thanks for taking the time out and helping with this info. I'm really nervous about the move call me a momma baby but i have never moved that far from her. And now i'm making a major move with my children. I don't want to make mistakes. I only get one chance in life to raise good kids

There are several good neighborhoods in all 4 directions, but I would say the most are on the North side.

Celebration is far south, Osceola County.
Oviedo is far NE, Seminole County.
West Orange county is Winter Garden/Ocoee before you get out to Clermont.
That is Lake county.
When I say the North side is the Best, I am thinking collectively it has the nicest collection of homes and least amounts of bad neighborhoods. It is composed of Winter Park, Maitland, Lake Mary, Heathrow, Altamonte, Longwood, Oviedo, Winter Springs, Casselberry. Most of these areas are nice, I would just avoid Fern Park and Eatonville.
The Bad:
The East has Azalea Park and Goldenrod.
The south has Kissimmee and the Oak Ridge area.
The west has the most bad areas, Pine Hills, Orlovista, Parramore, Metrowest.

Metrowest is not in the bad area category. The end of 2006 is a different story. Wow, safer than Windermere...
