I have had 1 client back out and have heard of many others, and the result depends on the builder and the reason. Without knowing your particular circumstances i wouldnt really be able to offer any information

Agreed. It all depends on your reason for backing out (and your evidence of that reason) and what it says in the contract you signed. All builders have different contracts and will be tougher to get your escrow back if even at all possible.
