That area of town is all timeshares and vacation rentals. It is a nice area though but is more suited for a vacation and not a permanent place to live because of the transient nature of the area and it's close proximity to the tourist corridor of Highway 192.

If I could only afford the worst part of Orlando or Kissimmee, I would pick Kissimmee. Overall though, Orlando has many nicer areas than Kissimmee and has a much better reputation overall. I do not agree with that comment at all.

Kissimmee is quieter and housing is cheaper. The downtown is so much nicer. Traffic is also better. Sure Kissimmee has some bad areas but I still prefer it. Orlando is also very fake, Kissimmee is more down to earth, but to each their own.

Are we talking about the same downtown Kissimmee in Florida? There is no way that downtown Kissimmee is nicer than downtown Orlando, I'm sorry but that is totally false. Kissimmee has very little good areas and has a severe gang and drug problem for a area of its size, that is why housing is cheaper because its a less desirable area.

Downtown Kissimmee

Downtown Orlando

I think that Noodles is referring to the quaintness of the downtown. I think that quaintness is much better in the downtown area of Mt Dora since the surrounding areas of Kissimmee are not so great. I also really like a lot of the older neighborhoods in downtown Orlando by Lake Highland Prep, Delaney Park, Lake Davis, Lake Como, College Park, Lake Ivanhoe, Colonialtown, even Audubon Park and Belle Isle. I think they have a lot more character and charm than downtown Kissimmee. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though.

Mclaren circle in kissimmee is about as bad as the worst areas of Orlando just much smaller, Overall I think Kissimmee is worse as far as things to do, the neighborhoods are uglier more touristy and the traffic on 192 is bad.

I would take Orlando any day over Kissimmee. For it`s size Kissimmee is no may-berry it has high crime but less to do and more overall crappy looking neighborhoods.

I'm from Orlando and when I visited LA, I was SHOCKED to walk down Hollywood Blvd and have a man try to sell me gold watches and rings! I even saw some teenagers skateboarding on the sidewalk and some "ruffians" drag racing down the street. LA is SCARY!!!

Note the obvious sarcasm. Welcome to a metro area of over 2million people, folks. Orlando is growing and has huge growing pains. Some areas of town are nicer than others...just like every other major metro area in the U.S.

Yes, I would choose Orlando over Kissimmee any day...but at least I know how to pronounce "Kissimmee" correctly!
