Like most other large cities, Orlando has a huge variety of areas. Given that you have two kids I am assuming that schools are important to you. In addition, safety and recreating too might be important. Having lived in Orlando for a while, the missing piece of the puzzle is your financial situation. Orlando has gotten very expensive and that has to be factored in. The cost of housing, transportation and taxes can add very quickly. All that in mind I would suggest East Orlando, Lake Mary, and perhaps the Apopka area.

Search the forum using "schools" and you should be able to find all of the information you need on which schools/areas are better than others. This has been discussed at length.

Hi there,
I actually just moved to the Lake Nona area it has an "A" rated school in the area that have received national attention. If you need help with finding a home let me know, I work with many Realtors. Also I work as a mortgage broker so I can help you out with the financing. |

I can't speak for everywhere in Orlando but I can tell you not to consider Poinciana where I live. Homes are expensive, schools are terrible, traffic is horrendous, and the overall cost of living is spiraling out of control. Good luck.

Also, IF you were to come down and the job were to fell through, would you be able to find another job like that to be able to support your family? Jobs are VERY competitive (seach for threads about it here) and decent paying jobs are paying less and less due to the surplus of people we have in Central Florida. Jobs are very hard to get! Have you considered the serious natural disasters in FL? Have yo checked insurance costs?? You car insurance will probably be twice as much as it is in Atlanta now, it's very expensive. Just some things to think about. Good luck! ML |

Shaky,
It's like once you come here you can't get out. It's a rut. Beware. Sunshine is not the best commodity like they try to tell you here. "You're paying for the sunshine." What a bunch of crap. All the other stuff that goes along with it does not make for a good quality of life. The traffic is a nightmare! moonbeam |
