Thanks for the non bias information, I am living in the U.S. Virgin islands and I am planning on relocating to Orlando Apopka was one of my choices. My wife lived in Seminole ridge apts. on silverstar for five years and I've been to orlando on numerous trips and I fell in love with Orlando. We are planning on buying a home there soon. I have a 12 year old who will be attending school in orlando, so I appreciate the info. Marylou scared me there for a while, my wife totally disagrees with marylous take on orlando. She raised a son and a daughter on her own in orlando for five years, with no problems. again thanks for the unbias research that you conducted.

Someone might have already mentioned this, but they are building a new dog park on 5 1/2 acres near the park, a new movie theater and shopping plaza behind Captain and the Cowboy. And plans are in the works for renovating the whole downtown area.

There will be 2 high schools in Apopka. One will open this fall on Hiawassee Road, if you're familiar with that area. The old Apopka High will remain open during its reconstruction, which is being done in phases. It should be done in 3 years, they say.

Ok cool, that's good to know Sherrio. I don't know which high school our daughter will attend, but thankfully she's only in 7th grade so we have another year before we have to worry about it. I'm hoping she'll go to the new school on Hiawassee...

Yes! Sanford has gotten so much better! You'd be amazed. Just like any town, there are excellent sections and not so great sections. I am a realtor in the Sanford/Lake Mary area and I have lived here for over 10 years now. I'd be happy to help you. [/mod]soliciting business[/mod].

It boils down to this, if you want a newer home and you have MEGA bucks you can move to a proven area like Winter Park where they are building new homes near my old community for 2 million+, Baldwin Park where homes are on top of one another -no yard at all and start at 600+, etc. and a few other places that are like these. OR you can move to a good area of a place that is changing and buy the same house for much less. OR you can choose to move to the outskirts of the city and buy for much less. You don't have the exclusive address and you are taking some risk buying in a newer area. I guess it depends on the depth of your pockets and/or how much you want to spend. |

Hi guys! New to the board.
I was also wondering about Sanford. I'm moving my family to the Seminole County area soon, and we have family in Oviedo. What area of Sanford are nice and which are not? Is west better than south?etc... What are some subdivisions that are nice there? Ive seen about 5 that look nice. Celery Lake, Celery Key, Cedar Hill, Bakers Crossing, & Preserve at Lake Monroe. Does anyone know about these areas? Thanks for any help. |

there are a lot of great places in Sanford to live now, near the part of town that is within 5-10 minutes of lake mary. they are trying very hard in the downtown area to make it better! It doesn't carry the bad stigma as a few years ago, and it is really changing for the better

I've taught in many schools and Apopka High School is one of the best. A lot goes into a school grade that most people don't realize. The administration and teachers at Apopka HS do what it takes to serve ALL students not just the college bound kids. The students were all accepting of each other regardless of race, religion etc. I actually moved from Lake County to Apopka because of the schools. I also taught in Lake County. I left after a year because it is so backwards. School officials are not concerned with what is best for the students...just what is best for their $$$. My son was at Apopka Middle School and we never had an issue...by the way for those of you concerned about school grades...it is an A. Now he is at Wolf Lake Middle and so far no problems. Remember it all starts at home!
