I am a Professional Nanny with over 13 years experience. I have been babysitting for over 20 years. I have extensive experience with newborns and toddlers. My current nanny position of over 4 years will be coming to an end in the Fall when my charge enters school. In addition to searching for a new full-time Nanny position, I am also looking for some regular weekend and evening babysitting jobs. Aside from registering with the local Nanny agencies are there any other places or publications in the Orlando area to advertise my services for free or low cost?

Craigslist.com (totally free and widely used) and there is a classified section on this board. Good luck!

I've used Craigslist in the past with no luck but will try again. There are so many people on there with little or no experience who will work for next to nothing and parents seem happy to settle on that. Add to that, I have received some creepy responses that weren't related to caring for children. |

Nanny rates are based on many things: Years and types of experience, education, the family dynamics (ages and number of children, as well as the duties required), live-in vs. live-out, , etc. The average Nanny in Orlando starting out or with little experience, gets between $11 and 14 per hour. With my qualifications, I should be at a higher rate, however the main agency here pretty much sets the Nanny "standards" locally so it makes it hard to find a position making what you are worth. Other agencies have a wider salary range for Nannies, but most people stick with the agencies that have been around the longest because they are more familiar with it. And the economy issues in to the mix and it's a real mess. At this point, I'd be content getting a 50 hour a week position at $15 per hour ($825 week).

Another place you can register for free to search for families in your are (there's a proximity setting) is GreatAupair.com. It takes a bit of extra work and patience to locate local positions as a guest member but it is possible.
Greataupair also allows you to set your salary range. Good luck with your search for a new nanny position ![]() |

The Orlando Sentinel classifieds are a great place to post your ad, very large readership.

The Best Place to advertise is nannies4hire.com
That is where most families that I know look for a nanny, and it is free to you (but families pay to use this site). So many families feel secure using this site, and it is credible. Good Luck! |
