Hi I am 30 years old and we (Myself, Husband, and 3 Kids) are thinking of moving to the Orlando area in about 9 months. I will be working in Orlando but I would like to know where is a good (reasonable) place to try to first (Rent) a home then after a year buying a home with kids... Good Schools, Safe, Within 30 mins from Beach. Also my kids and Husband all play soccer so we'd love to keep this going after our move. My husband does DRYWALL type work (Hanging, Finishing, Accousti etc) SO I am hoping it won't be too hard for him to find work... Thank you in Advance for ALLLL your help! P.S. I see when researching Orlando they also have Kissimmee in there so is this a very close city? I would like to know the recommended cities I would need to be researching if possible for I am not good with the area. Last edited by perez0808; 06-12-2008 at 08:08 PM.. Reason: Forgot something |

If you're going to be working in Orlando and must be near the beach your options are somewhat limited if you want to keep a reasonable commute. First place that comes to mind is Avalon Park/Waterford Lakes in east Orlando. I've heard you can find good rental deals out there with the slumping housing market. However, drive to beach would probably be closer to 45 mins. but still a very easy drive. Lake Nona area would also be good, you could jump on the beachline on be on the sand in no time. The other areas you would want to consider are Deltona, possibly Lake Mary and wester Volusia county. However with these areas you'd be closer to Daytona than to the Space coast. Hope that helps. And yes you can play soccer in all these areas. Just look up soccer leagues online, there are adult and youth leagues all over Central Florida.

Lake Nona is a great place for families. Right now it's a small community so many of the people know each other. One of our elementary schools is right inside of the YMCA so the children get to enjoy school & the benefits of the Y. Also the Y has both youth and adult soccer leagues, as well as, other sports.

Try Lake Nona or Vista Lakes...both are convenient to the 528 which is only $1 toll and straight shot to the beach. I live in the area and from my front door to Cocoa beach is about 30-35 minutes depending on traffic. This is an area with lots of families as well.
I would not recommend Kissimmee, it's over run with tourists. |

Seminole County is the best place for your children because of the excellent schools, try Oviedo or Lake Mary.
