Default Spoken Word ( Poetry) Events...Orlando

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for some spoken word (poetry) events in orlando. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for a romantic place with no smoking.

Thanks

Try calling some of the local bookstores. Barnes & Nobles (altamonte and downtown), Border (altamonte and winter park), and urban think in thornton park. They have spoken word nights from time to time that are non smoking. If they don't have one going they can usually get in touch with the groups that organize the spoken word nights around town. There are also alot of spoken word nights in some dive bars and hole in the walls around town but I highly doubt they'd be non smoking since they are in bars.

The AKA is a SMOKING venue. It gets pretty heavy in there except on nice spring evenings when they open the windows--all three of them a year. Most of the acts there are musical, I've only once or twice seen a spoken word.

I don't know if they still do it, but Dandelion Tea House in Orlando near Colonial Photo used to do a poetry night on Tuesdays. Non-smoking, vegan venue.
