Charlotte always seemed to be pretty friendly to me, especially when comapred to Orlando. But perhaps one of the reasons some folks are finding Charlotte less friendly, and as you mentioned, someone tail-gating you yesterday... etc... is because of all the new folks movng there from places with a more fast pace, stressful environment, and sometimes they dont change their attitudes and driving habits.

I remember an article came out a few weeks ago about how driving in CLT is getting worse, and they said they thought it was probably correlated to the folks who moved there from places like NY, Chicago and Miami.

Anyhow, we'll figure it out, and I appreciate the message.

It very well could be all the folks who have moved to Charlotte or NC from other places. I have seen a lot of folks on the NY forums, come back and post how much they love living in NC. Not to say 'they are the reason' for what you are finding Dbansal but I was pretty amazed to see how many have up and left NY.

^^^ Well, that is probably a BIG reason Keeper, your right. Just as FL changed, look for the Charlotte area to change too, in a big way.

Could be, but people from the northeast are not cold and guarded, they aggressive and in your face. When you move out of the Northeast to you are happy anywhere with semi-decent weather and people who aren't in your face all the time lol. I remember liking living in San Francisco from Boston a lot for that reason, though when I went back recently I didn't like it nearly as much. In any case I guess I'll ask my neighbors if they're natives or transplants, if they'll talk to me...

In Charlotte, I bet 1/3 of them are Floridians (I bet many of them would like to talk to you about where in FL they are from, why the moved , etc...), and in Lake Mary, they'll talk to you, but you may have to try a little harder to talk to them... but be careful... I think the Yankees and Saaaaax are playing. LOL.

Smile which is best

I am originally from London, England and have been living in Charlotte, NC since late 1988.
At first i could not bear that it was so slow and country like but over the years, I have seen Charlotte's growth and the influx of people moving here from the North and even people from Florida.
I too, live in the Ballantyne area.
Coming from London, i am very used to people not smiling or talking to you.

I find the people here to be very friendly.
I have now lived in my Ballantyne home for 4 years and i have truly wonderful neighbors. Walking my dog 3 times a day gets me out and about. I am always meeting new people and chatting with them.

I have never lived in Orlando but am a huge Disney fan so we go to Disney at least once or twice per year.

When my daughter finishes High School, I would seriously look in to moving to Florida (not necessarily Orlando) as i would like to work for Disney.
I saw some lovely areas near Cape Canaveral which definitely appealed to me.

For right now though, I love Charlotte, NC

Yeah it's ok, just not as good in my opinion as Lake Mary. People aren't necessarily unfriendly in Charlotte, just not nearly as friendly as the people I meet in Orlando. Like you say you're used to people not smiling/talking to you, they do that more in Orlando. It's all relative I guess...

LOL, as I have stated... my neighbors dont talk to eachother, unless it is a request to turn down the raggeton music blaring.

HAHAHA... I just showed my wife that statement and we both got a good chuckle!!! You are funny! You should do a poll in the CLT and ORL forums, and see which city people think is more friendly. Charlotte would win easily I guarantee! I like you Dbansal, you say the funniest things sometimes!!!

People are more openly friendly in NC but to me they seem fake I would rather the NY or Northeast brashness then North Carolina.

When I was in NC people would wave as you drove by them, I was thinking who does that? I don`t know these people way to creepy for me.
