Ok, let's put it this way: You are wrong! We live here! So, enough with the "bad mouthing" of Orlando. It is getting old!!
As said before, there are people living in the Charlotte area right now that don't like it there and would love to move (but can't for various reasons). And, there are people living in/around Orlando that love living there for various reasons. There are people who live in So Calif and love living there, BUT, read in some of the other Forums about people who hate it there and would love to leave (or already have).

In CLT, atleast on the oustkirts, it is SO much easier to get away from the BS. Believe me. You can show me stats all day about how crime in CLT is bad, but it isnt as bad as Orlando. I guarantee it. I can move to a suburb of CLT and be miles away from crap, but where I live, it is harder to escape. Go ask the people on the CLT forum who used to live in Orlando which is worse. I bet on CLT feeling safer, and if I'm wrong, I'll never talk bad about ORL again.

The "recent" increase in crime is due to Florida! Nothing factual to back them up though, or the fact that you can check out the stats yourself of Meck and surrounding counties and compared them to Orange and surrounding counties.

Also, why were those two people shot? Domestic? Or were they just walking down the street and a bullet hit them?

Compelled, the two people that were shot was a man involved in a home invasion. He was shot in the neck but lived. The other was a kid (or maybe early 20's ... cant remember) who was shot and killed in an apartment complex over what started as just a fight. But one kid had to shoot the other. Pretty sad.

Compelled, for you... A little hard to read, but statistically PER CAPITA, Orlando is worse in every category. This is from the exact same website for both cities...

Here is the thing, that's just for Charlotte proper. That's not a county figure. I have all of the FL and NC counties posted somewhere, when I find the links I will post. Crime in in the Charlotte area is even MORE spread out than it is around Orlando.

Here, I found it.
Florida Crackers have been replaced by Immigrants in Working Class Jobs in Orlando

Also, where are burglaries, thefts, etc?

I dont really see any head to head figures for the two. I like the headline though, "Florida Crackers have been replaced by Immigrants in Working Class Jobs in Orlando"

That's pretty funny. Being an engineer in the Construction Industry, I am on jobsites a lot, and it definitely feels like I am in a different country at times. The other couple guys I work with, one being from Knoxville, and the other from Charlotte, both want to go back to TN and NC.

Who do you think is building all of those cheap houses in NC? I will give you a clue; they made some of the best Mexican food I have ever had when I was in Charlotte. BTW, look at the per 100,000 rate provided for the counties in both links and compare all of the counties around Charlotte to the counties around Orlando. It's pretty similar actually, slight advantage Orlando...

"Ok, let's put it this way: You are wrong!"

I have lived in both FL and NC, and I dont think many of you (who are doubting what I am saying) have, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I am probably the only people posting (besides Dbansal) who has lived in both, and there's a big difference between someone actually knowing both areas, and someone who has visited once or is reading crime stats on the net. But perhaps it has changed quite a bit in the last couple yrs.

Yeah as you said I do CURRENTLY live in both areas. I'm back in NC as I type this. Reading through your posts I'm honestly starting to doubt you've ever lived NC quite frankly. I don't have an agenda, if NC were great I could admit it, and easily move here full time if I wanted to. I've moved plenty of times before and am not attached to any one area. But Charlotte is nothing special, and has plenty of problems. Not that Orlando is perfect either, no place is, but it is better in my opinion.
