It is a nice area with good schools and low crime. It looks and feels like typical suburbia, but it is nice and clean. That end of the metro area has a lot of trees and more scenic beauty than some other areas, and Lake Mary is notorious for homes having larger lots than other municipalities within Orange and Seminole Counties. My biggest concern for you or anyone moving there would be where it is in relation to your job and your daily commute. Lake Mary almost forces you to rely on I-4 to get to Orlando and morning and afternoon commutes in your direction of travel are quite congested. If you work in the area or from home it makes it an ideal location. I do really like Lake Mary.

I have an apartment book at work with me and looked and the lowest I saw was $715 for the area. I would say a nice property would more realistically be about $900-$1100.

I would look on craigslist for condo rentals. I know in Lake Mary, you can get a condo for $700-$800. I'd rather be where these condos are then some of these apartment complexes. Some of the condos are called Regency at Lake Mary or Knotting Hill. The nicer apartments are very expensive, around $1000
You have to be careful b/c alot of the apartments are very well kept up with, but that doesn't mean that you won't have rif-raf. You don't want to have to deal with the rif-raf. Good luck!

I've lived in Lake Mary for most of my eight years in the Orlando area and I love it. It is an upscale community with good schools, jobs, shopping, and still fairly convenient to downtown and beaches.

I've lived in lake mary for 13 years, and there are many things i love about lake mary. first of all, i love the location because it's about 40 min. west to disney and 40 min. east to the beach. i love the close shopping we have, the excellent schools, and the people. my family and i have been happy here for many years, and will be here for many more. lake mary is a great fit for my family and i, and i am very happy here!
