Default Moving to Orlando looking for safe, nice, quiet area

My husband and I are moving to Orlando so he can get his masters degree at UCF. We don't hve any kids yet but still want a safe, quiet, and nice family neighborhood. He is willing to commute 30-40 minutes so we can live in a great area. We are looking to rent a 2-3 bedroom home or townhome (not really an apartment) with a fenced in yard or courtyard for our little dog. Our price range is from 800-1200 and we would like to live away from all the noise and partying of campus. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Look in the Oviedo and Waterford Lakes areas. These are all very close to UCF.

Lake Mary was voted 1st in the South and #4 in the country by Money Magazine. I go to school at UCF for masters (night classes) and take the 417 straight there. Easy drive, no traffic. We live in Timacuan in Lake Mary and LOVE IT!!! We may have to relocate to Jacksonville, and I am finding that we have too good here in Lake Mary. Super safe, family oriented, tons of shopping nearby, great restaurants, lots of bike trails, and more.

Have fun with $5 a gallon gas and $250,000 townhomes.

LOL, there is no easy way from Lake Mary to UCF without spending a ton of gas and paying expensive tolls every couple of miles.

Winter springs is close to UCF and we are rated number 2 in the state for resident safety. Also the area I live in is quiet even though there a loads of children living here. I wouldn't move from here my kids a A+ rated schools and it's a lovely area.

knielson85, plenty of houses for rent in Waterford Lakes/Avalon Pk areas (32828 zip). So many houses for sale/rent. the 3/2's homes are probably in the $1400/month range, and the big houses (5/3) are in the mid to high teens ($1700 - 1900) per month. This is probably pretty accurate for most of the areas there.

Lake Mary is a great area. It's very safe and very convenient. Look it up on Sperling's best places to live. We've been here for 8 years and haven't had any problems. Schools are great. I think in your price range, you'll have no problem finding something. Check craigslist. Good luck!
