Default Help with Winter Park Relocation

Hello,

I'm posting here in the hopes that some of you might be able to assist me with finding a wonderful rental in the Winter Park area. I will begin a position as Assistant Professor at Rollins College in the fall and am looking to rent as close to campus as possible (ideally I would like to walk, but riding a bike is a possibility as well - so within 4 miles preferably).

I have been scouring Craig's List and the Sentinel looking at postings to get an idea of what is out there. I will be in town looking for housing from 7/17 through 7/20 in the hopes of securing a rental for my August 15th return. I believe that Maitland, Colonialtown, near Lake Eola and Thornton Park and possibly parts of College Park are alternative possibilities based on what I've seen.

What I'm hoping is to find a wonderful landlord who wants a great, responsible and quiet tenant who intends to stay long term. I'm desperately trying to avoid having to live in an apartment/condo complex but would be fine with a smaller stand alone apartment building, townhouse or duplex. Two bedrooms would be best as I would like to use the second as an office/studio but a one bedroom would suffice as well. My price range is ideally in the $750 - $900 range but I may be able to go slightly higher for the right place.

If anyone has any ideas for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

You've picked some nice areas....good job.
Unless things have changed in the last year or so you might have to up your range. I personally like College Park and the area around Rollins. Lake Eola and Thornton Park aren't bad but you would still have to go at least a mile or two to get to a proper supermarket so walking there wouldn't be feasible.
I drive thru College Park and Winter Park on a regular basis and will see if I see anything interesting.
Just FYI Realtor.com does rentals also...try there.

Default Biking from Maitland

Biking from Maitland to Rollins is not something I would consider doing on a daily basis. The main north-south route is 17-92, which is a busy six lane road with few cyclists. There are other routes, but they're much longer. If you're trying to figure a route out on a map, take note that there's a bike bridge on Cypress Lane.

I have no idea what rents look like now, but the area between the railroad tracks and 17-92 might have something closer to your price range.
