Do you think certain jobs in the Orlando area give you a better advantage? (Winter Springs: lawyer)

Looking to possibly move to Winter Springs/Oviedo (Seminole Co.) in a couple of years (next Summer at the earliest). My husband installs nurse call alarm systems, etc. at hospitals (healthcare industry) and I'm a legal secretary. Do you think being that there are hospitals and lawyers most everywhere, we should do okay relatively speaking? I keep reading how dismal the job market is there (unless you are in the service industry). I wouldn't mind working for one of the tourist/theme parks but not sure how conducive the scheduling would be with having a 6 year old in first grade, etc. (Unless I could work as a secretary M-F/9-5 for one of the parks, etc.)

With you and your husbands respective careers I think you will definitely have an advantage. Not so much for the jobs themselves but for the transferability of the skills. I'm sure with what your husband does it would not be a stretch for him to do general home security or electrical installation work. As far as legal secretaries there are plenty of jobs out there, you just have to put yourself in a position to get into the interview and knock them off their feet. If you not, you could probaly find a admin/clerical job here fairly easy. For a family in your situation you should be ok if you search diligently for a job. The people who have problems are usually unskilled workers who have to work in the service industry. For someone in your situation Central Florida can be very doable, but the truth is in your situation you should be alright anywhere.

Nope, if it's in Orlando, it's a third world rude people job.

Seriously though, that's the vibe I've gotten from like every other post I seem to read on here.

I like to think those people would be miserable anywhere they're at.

Dont forget that Orlando's economy is mainly focused on tourism, so the job opportunities will be less than they would be in cities with diverse economies. However there are many jobs to be found if you are willing to work for low pay.
