Default Orlando or Boston?

My husband and I have been given the option (from his employer) to either relocate to Orlando, Florida or Boston, Mass. ( We currenlty live in London, but my husband is American from the West coast).

We have been going crazy trying to reach a decision..we have heard good and bad about both cities but we would like some input from people who may have experiences in both?

Please note that we have an 11 month old son, so we would like know the best place to raise him, in terms of quality of life and a good upbringing.

Thank you so much for your input!

If you don't mind the Brutal winters Boston is a better choice (Big city, good transportation, top rated schools.)

The cons it`s alot more expensive so if you will be making the same in either your buck will go farther here plus we have year round warmer weather and better beaches.

You can get to some perfectly good beaches quicker from Boston than from Orlando - it's just that your beach season is much shorter!

Boston is a world class city, while Orlando is a tourist town. As far as schools, Massachusetts has some of the best school systems in the country. If you like warm weather then Orlando may be a better choice, but as far as cities go Orlando is not in the same league as Boston. Visit both cities and make an informed decision.

If this is your primary concern, I don't think there is even a debate here.

Boston.

I'd choose Boston if all things are equal! Better culture, better food, better sports, better schools. Relatively close to Canada, NYC, Philadelphia, D.C., etc. Orlando's a huge tourist town because of amusement parks for families...not that it's a bad place, but I've spent a ton of time in each and Boston is far better in my eyes.

Coming from London, Boston would be the heavy favorite. You could live outside Boston and the schools are very good. I have lived in both places, ask anyone I am a huge fan of Orlando also but in your situation I highly reccomend Boston (they don't call it New England for nothing).

I think the two biggest differences between the places are going to be weather and cost of living.

I love Boston and it has SO much history and culture to offer but the winter there is pretty harsh at least in my book. The cost of living is really high.

I would check on prices of homes in both places taking into consideration how much your husband will be making.

I know here in Orlando we have alot of people from the UK but I don't know about in the Boston area. I don't know that it would make much difference.
