Default Winter Park Area

Hi everyone,

Im 20 years old and Ill be moving to winter park next friday, and I am just wondering what Winter Park has to offer.

Another question are the surrounding lakes safe to swim in?

Finally, is there any wildlife I have to be concerned about at all?

Thanks

Winter Park has two different parts. True Winter Park is the area within the 32789 Zip code by Park Avenue and along 17-92. It is one of the more charming parts of Central Florida with a lot of sidewalk restaurants, art venues and stores, theater, museums, etc. There is a whole post about the water here that you should read, but the quick answer is no, do not swim in the lakes in Florida.

The other side of Winter Park (32792) is a newer area of homes built in the 60s-80s and several apartment complexes and restaurants along a busy stretch of Hwy 436 AKA Semoran Blvd. It is still a nice place to live, not without some problems, but definitely not as nice as the older parts of Winter Park. There is also not a lot of entertainment on this side of Winter Park. They are nice centrally located areas to get downtown and to the east and north sides. Most of the nightlife will be downtown where more retail and dining options would be north in Altamonte or East in the Waterford area.
