True. I have a friend who lives in Thornton Park and she told me this several years ago. It's a beautiful neighborhood but pricey.

Wrong....As someone posted earlier, you need a car everywhere in Florida. Miami/Ft Lauderdale are no exception.

Thejan is on a distinguished road
2 issues:

1: staying at a resort: take a hotel at one of the resorts (they ALL shuttle you to their hotel; by the way, this saves on tolls too!) and take daily shuttle buses from there (they go as far as the Cape). If you like that type of a vacation, you will not need to rent anything.
2: going outside the bounds of Disney/resorts: you will need a car. Public transportation is bad, at best. Be very careful though: people there have a short fuse and will sue you over almost nothing. On top of that, they are all armed.

I'd rent a car and visit some of the beautiful springs around there. Just outside Orlando, nature is just breathtaking.

Jane.

First of all I've lived in Florida for 20 years and have travelled throughout the state. I've lived in St. Pete w/o a car. Moderator cut: removed personal attack
