Hi everyone,
I lived in Florida about ten years ago for a period of ten years and am thinking of heading back. I have been living in Canada and am absolutely sick, sick I tell you LOL, of the bitter cold winters - among other things about Canada and gots to get out of here for better weather. Honolulu, with the best climate anywhere in the US, is out - they charge a whopping 12.5 % (avg) income tax! Ridiculous (compared to Florida's 0% that is - YEAH!). Anyway I am wondering if people in Orlando (a city I am considering) do window cleaning all year round? I am asking mostly about residential window cleaning. I am especially interested in hearing from those who have actually hired window cleaners in the Orlando area (not because I will call on you for window cleaning but to learn from your experiences - pro and con). I remember it getting real cold (relative to normal Florida weather that is) for a few weeks around Christmas. Then there is the stormy season. When I was in Florida I lived in Melbourne (about an hour East of Orlando). I visited Orlando periodically. Yes there was crime and lots and lots of traffic. Terrible traffic in Orlando - never seen anything like it. And the cops where generally very unprofessional and treated people like criminals right off the bat - unlike the RCMP (very professional and courteous) but, just about anything is better than a Canadian winter in my opinion! Anyone know what the going price for window cleaning is down there? I charge $3+ dollars a window pane up here. That's per pane not per window. I speak Spanish fluently. Will that give me a competitive advantage? How do people take door to door solicitors? That's my main way of getting new business. In Canada where I live people will all but invite you in to have tea in a manner of speaking. Even thank you for coming to their door (literally). Are there lots of rich neighborhoods in Orlando? With agreggrate rock driveways and spruce roof or other fancy tiles who would have discretionary income to spend on the best window cleaning one can get (me of course ). Any input from anyone that cares to give it would be much appreciated. Carlos PS. I may not be able to come to Orlando depending on other factors not related to window cleaning but am making preliminary inquiries - before the LONG, COLD, BITTER Canadian winter sets in. PSS. If any of you own homes near the beaches on the coast - do you clean windows once a month to get the salt spray off? Or do you just leave the salt spray on and clean your windows no more frequently than the usual once or twice a year? Last edited by carlos123; 07-18-2008 at 09:58 PM..
