Merriweather, if you want what could be considered a scenic route, take the turnpike to county road 19 (howey rd) north of Clermont. That will take you through Howey-in-the-Hills, across Lake Harris, through Tavares, and finally Mt Dora. Pretty rolling hills and horse country.

If you want fast, take the 429. If you want really scenic, take County Rd. 437 from Colonial Dr. to 441. You can find the exact route on google maps. It'll take a bit longer but you'll avoid the tolls and parts of it are really beautiful. There's an area next to Lake Apopka that looks like a savanna. I used to take this route just for this view
