Windermere is a town that has kept itself intentionally somewhat rural. However, there should be pleanty of shopping a little outside of Windermere closer to Orlando. You need to define what you mean by " in that area". If you mean can you walk to a large store or mall from Winderemere, the answer is no. But, many people who live in or around Windermere commute to Orlando, go to various malls, stores etc. In otherwords, Windermere, though it is on the outskirts of Greator Orlando, is not out in the sticks like, lets say Geneva. As long as you're driving, it's not a big deal. But, if you don't have a car, it's a big deal.

Thanks Prichard
we dont have to live in Widermere ..that is just where my husband will be working.... Id like to live somewhere nice with grocery shopping etc...within walking distance...we are allowed by contract 1 hour away from his job in windermere...although I wouldnt want him driving one hour both ways... Right now in Toronto he has a drive of anywhere from 20 to 40 min depending on traffic..so we are use to gridlock! Any suggestions on areas? And I know I need to work on my driving test..it seems the older I get the harder it is to go get it! wish I had done it at 16! |

Most people would find Windermere a very desireable place to live! If I worked in Windermere I'd definitely live there - it would be a no brainer!!! The only suggestion I really have is don't worry too much about it - move to Windermere. I really think you'll like it there. It does have a very small downtown area, but I don't recall what stores are there. Definitely no major shopping right downtown there.

Yes, I agree. I have never heard of anyone who works in Windermere wanting to live any place else than Windermere. It is one of the most beautiful, desirable, and classy areas in the Orlando vicinity. Also, I believe they are getting ready to build a new mall-Bella Colina area, which is right down the road. |

Hi there, I live in Windermere. They are building a HUGE mall, both outside and inside, right down the road on 535 - will open this fall. I can't wait!
![]() Windermere is very nice, good schools and low crime. Let me know if I can answer any questions. |

The Mall of Millenia is near Windermere. There's plenty of shopping and the schools are excellent. Windermere is a safe, nice area for you and your family to live. Good luck!
