I just moved here recently, and I am used to all of the wonderful restaurants available to me in my former home of Houston. There was an absolutely stellar Italian restaurant in the Houston area where they had homemade everything (pasta, garlic rolls, tiramisu, etc). I was so impressed after eating there for the first time that I no longer cared about eating at Olive Garden, where I used to think they had good food. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I do not really like Olive Garden much anymore either. I think they were more a 90's thing before better chains came about. I think they have done little to improve their quality or adjust with the times. This is just my opinion of course, because despite the economy Darden chains have pretty strong sales.
I like Macaroni Grill more than Olive Garden, then Carrabba's is even better than Macaroni Grill to me. I get roped into eating at a lot of chains, but even more than them I like Antonio's and Brio. There are a lot of others I also want to try that could be even better like Bravissimo, Il Pescatore, Gargi's, and some other great options in College Park and Winter Park. |

The best in Kissimmee, in my opinion, is Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant near the corner of 192 and Dyer. They have the best homemade garlic rolls and their Alfredo sauce is to die for! I love Giovanni's for their pizza but prefer Giuseppe's for the rest of the menu.

I think what most of us consider authentic Italian food is actually New York Italian food.
