This will be the first time taking my daughter to Disney and we want to make the most of it. I really wanted to go in February but we want to do Dolphin Cove and the water parks. (typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach) Dolphin Cove is open year round with heated water but I still don't want to be in the water if its cold outside. I cannot seem to find info on the water parks for Feb. or Mar. Does anyone know if they are open and if you can actually enjoy them during those months? If I went the first week in March would that be better. I noticed some colleges do spring break the first week, particularly some FL colleges so would it be too crowded that week? Thanks!

I would say March is the best month to visit, the weather will be perfect. The crowds should not be that bad either.

Locals do not generally swim around that time between December-May, but depending on where you live the water may be perfect. After the colder months (January and February) it can take some time for the unheated pools to warm up. I think a lot of the theme parks are heated though.

I don't live in Florida. But I have been to Disney in February before. We got lucky and had beautiful weather. 80's every day. A little chilly in the mornings sometimes but it warmed up quickly. We did go to Typhoon lagoon and used the pool at the resort. It was okay. Typhoon Lagoon was okay because we were on the move a lot. But the day we went to the pool at the resort we didn't stay too long. It felt chilly.
We talked to someone that worked there though, and she said it had been pretty cold and wet the week before. I think its fairly unpredictable that time of year. |

The weather this past winter/spring was very mild and there were days in the mid 80's that would have been perfect for water parks. Like others have said, March would be better weather and crowd wise. February has a lot of events in Daytona that bring over the crowds and starting in late March you will get the Spring break crowds, therefore early March is the best.
The water parks at Disney close for refurbishment in the Winter months but on a routing schedule. This past year I believe Blizzard Beach was closed so that means Typhoon Lagoon will be closed and Blizzard will be open....or vice-versa. Also, the water is heated at the parks and it is better to go in the afternoon for that time of year. But don't forget the sunscreen because even if it's cooler out you can still get burned. |

There are currently no scheduled updates for either water park in Feb. '09. March isn't posted yet. Their website is very good at letting vacationers know what to expect while there. Keep checking back.
As other posters have mentioned, Dec./Jan. are really our only "cool" months. Feb. & March are fairly safe bets. But if it makes you feel better, stick with March. For more help planning your vacation, use this great site. |

The weather here in the winter is strange you can have one day with highs in the 50`s then a few days later in the 70`s or 80 degrees. Me personally I have been here over 20 years and are spoiled so I don`t swim until the temps are in the 90`s but you just coming from up north you should be fine. And Dec/Jan are not the only cool months more like Nov-Feb we were still getting cold snaps in march this year a few days I woke up and in was in the 40`s in march. |

Actually locals swim all year long. We were in the pool this last new years eve. And we did not have a heater. You can pretty much swim all year long. It won't make much difference if you go in Feb or Mar, both are good months as far as weather. However, March is much, much busier due to the fact that many schools have spring break.

Really? The community pool is right across the street from my house and it is empty in the winter with the exception of people from up north visiting relatives. |
