Home invasions - baldwin park, oviedo
this is serious, and i am getting a little nervous. monday, a woman was held hostage by a man in her baldwin park home, than yesterday, in oviedo ( a nice area where homes are nice and we actually looked to purchase in at one time) 3 men broke down this ladies' door, tied her up, put a gun to her head, and stole things from her house... IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!
i know (unfortunately) that things like this happen in bad areas, but these are nice areas and i am getting nervous about this. if it happened in pine hills, i wouldnt be as suprised (and by no means does it make the crime any different) but this is happeneing in areas similar to my own.
if criminals want to steal from eachother and shoot eachother, that's one thing, but these are innocent ppl having guns held to their heads.

Unfortunetly the crime in the Orlando metro area is getting worse everyday. The weakening Florida economy is going to make matters even worse in the coming months. I recommend anyone that lives in the Orlando metro area to have a monitered alarm put in their home and have in inabled even when you are home.

Lockwood? Maybe nice, but that's barley Oviedo. The reason you would never "think" these crimes don't happen in broad daylight is misconception. Home burglaries and home invasions happen almost exclusively during the day because that's when the homes are usually either unoccupied or only have one person in them. However, I live down here in the pit of hell cesspool and I don't think anyone has been tied up inside their house by robbers since the end of the freaking coke era! That is truly scary to hear.

the g word
hi folks, a 22 year resident of the area here, and i can say i have seen many changes since i moved here....such as when i first got here university was a two lane road, the road behind my home was a dirt path with livestock living at the end of the street in someone's front yard, and it was woods from my house to ucf. with the influx of development has come crime, of course. But also, it is worth mentioning, there is increasing gang activity, mostly south of 50 in the waterford/lk underhill/curryford areas. Not to scare anyone, but awareness is key...know your surroundings and take precautions. Unfortunately, daylight no longer guarantees safety.

i hope the police catch this creep.
i think this is the 6th attack. that is scary! orlando has a serious problem with abductions, attacks, and rapes. i dont care if the neighborhood drug dealer is killing another neighborhood drug dealer. innocent women are being attacked, and b/w this case, the one in oviedo and baldwin park, there have been a few THIS WEEK ALONE. not necessarily while walking/jogging/bike-riding, but there have been home invasions too, which means there have been a few of these incidents already this week, and that was as of wednesday night!

The economy is not an excuse for crime. Even if we had 1% unemployment, the scums too lazy to get a job (even if they have to start at the very bottom--fast food--and work their way up) will still be scums...

I do agree that the economy is not an excuse. However places that are economically devestated do tend to have more crime.

Thats crazy i never knew Orlando had bad crime like that. I lived in South Florida
12 years. I heard of home invasions down there before. Now thats happening up
here. Thats pretty crazy. Was it random? I live in Lake County the crime up here
does not seem to be as bad.
